What can I update from the past week??  Well, to start off from the last time I posted, I got really sick. Again.  Only this time I got the stomach flu. So frustrating.  I was down from last Thursday until Sunday.  So I was able to start off this week some what healthy.  But continue to pray for health for our team, its seems to be going around.  And from my recent experience, the stomach flu is NOT fun.  So pretty much my weekend consisted of laying around watching movies praying that I don’t see any food more than once.

The week started The Joshua Project has worn me out.  Monday was great.  We took about ten boys down to the playground on the beach to just spend some time with them.  So we did the slides, swings, merry-go-round, you know, the usual playground stuff.  And then they boys came up with a really fun game.  Its called “steal Aaryn’s sunglasses and chase us around in circles for an hour.”  It was sooo tiring, but sooo much fun.  Their giggles are contagious.  But man, I was dead afterwards!  Tuesday was a different story.  It was actually really frustrating for me.  The kids were in a one of their rare forms where they wouldn’t listen to a word we said.  They were totally out of control.  They were stabbing each other in the backs with pens, kicking and hitting, and running around like crazy people.  I’ve never seen anything like it.  Watching them I just got really discouraged.  I really started to ask if what we were doing there is/will ever make a difference?  I mean, they are street kids.  They live by their own rules, do even have a chance of making a difference at all???  So it was a really long day for me.  I walked home really discouraged and frustrated.  I know we can. I know that regardless they can’t reject the love that we so freely try and give.  To be honest though, sometimes I dont want to love them.  I just want to give up, but its Christ’s love that compels me to keep going. So prayer would be fabulous.

So far this week the clinic is going great.  Louise, the pharmacist, was happy to see me and today I think I’m going to take her a coke and a sweet for her break.  She runs around mad at the clinic.  So hopefully it’ll brighten her day!

Today for family ministry, we found a local playground that is covered by trash and pretty beat up and have decided to make that a project while we are here.  We want to clean it up, fix some things, and make it a great place for kids to come.  So this morning we picked up a TON of trash and also began brainstorming and deciding what things we can do to make it totally awesome.

Tomorrow some of us are heading to Port Elizabeth to shop and just get out of Jbay for a day.  I think it’ll be really nice.  Thanksgiving is already a week from today! That is out of control.  We are doing a big dinner here…I can’t wait!!!! Its my favorite meal of the entire year!

Here is a picture from this morning at the playground!
