This week has been hard. Not gonna lie. First of all…I had to chose my ministries. I did it. And I’m happy with my choice! As of now…I am working with The Joshua Project two days a week. The Joshua Project is a ministry located on the fringe of the township and focuses on the street kids here in Jbay. Its an amazing ministry that really has a strong focus on not just being a place for the kids to hang out, but making a point in trying to really show them love. It was a CRAZY first couple of days there. They had the most boys they’ve had in a while…and they were jumping around like mexican jumping beans on us. I think I totaled about five kids hanging on me at once. But they really are great. The other two days I’m hopefully going to be working in the Pellrus Health Clinic using my pharmacy background. Its a great place that a just a simple smile can make a world of difference. Tuesday mornings I will probably be doing a combination of possible house visits and marketplace ministries, Thursday mornings we do ministry together as a team to try and meet needs, and Saturday afternoon is intentional ministry where I can use the time to focus on relationships I’m forming during the week or meet other needs that I see through out the week. Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday mornings are focused on discipleship and building community amongst our team. And of course Sunday is devoted to church and also being involved with a local student/missionary ministry here. Friday is my day off. So its pretty packed. But if you know me at all, I love being busy!
Second of all, this week I’ve been sick. If you dont know, I struggle with really bad asthma. Well, I’ve been really struggling since I got to Africa. It hadn’t been unbearable or anything, but this week it was out of control. I was sleeping and could barely stay awake because my body was so fatigued from just trying to breathe. So on Wednesday I finally went to the doctor here. Got put on a bunch of meds. I took the day off yesterday to recover and actually last night was my first night in a while where I slept completely through the night. AND I didn’t even use my inhaler before I went to bed. I can breathe!!!! YAY! I’m pumped. I was really frustrated by it, but hopefully I’m over it now. Pray that I stay healthy. But also keep my teammates in your prayers as well. A handful of girls on my team are sick. Not fun, especially living in community.
We did redeem our free meal at the Sunflower last Friday night. It was soooo good! Here is a pic of the winning team!!! oh yeah. We are so cute!
Today I am enjoying my day off and the beautiful place I live in. How did I get so lucky? Thank you all for your support!!!! It means more than you know to me. Love you guys.
