Well, I think that this past weekend was absolutely amazing! Since Friday is my off day, a group of us girls headed to the mall to hang out and see a movie. It was cut a little short because of a power outage. In the mall. In Africa. It was different, but still a good time to get a little bit of a break. On Saturday, we had a surprise trip to a Lion Park not too far from where we are. It was awesome. The lions are amazing, and we saw the cutest little baby lion cub ever. It looked like a stuffed animal! Sunday mornings I’ve been going to a local church called The Eagle’s Nest. It’s a small church, maybe about 50 to 60 folks. I’m not sure if I’m sold on it yet as my “home” while I’m here, but they sure do love each other and have a good time. I think Sunday was the most beautiful day ever. It was perfect temperature and no wind, just enough of a breeze to keep you from roasting. It was the perfect beach day. So that’s what I did on my few hours to relax. I headed to the beach and enjoyed God’s beautiful beach!
Yesterday I officially did my debut in a drime. A drime is a play or short skit to a song. There is no speaking involved, only acting and a bit of dancing. It was better than I thought it would be. Its not really my thing, but it was good times. The kids at Ithemba were shockingly quiet and they seemed to get a good bit of it. Awesome.
The past two days have been two of my favorite days at The Joshua Project. Yesterday, after my drime, we took a group of kids down to the playground by the beach. It was so fun! It was different though. For some reason we had a ton of girls. Usually we have ALL boys, but yesterday the boys were way out numbered. We did a classic game of duck, duck, goose, steal the bacon, and of course, the merry-go-round. I met one of the cutest little boys ever. He has stolen my heart. I wanted to take him home in my purse. What? If you saw his fishy face, you would want him too. Today, was great too. We had most of the usual kids. Since it was “Art day,” we decided to let them play with chalk and face paint. They did a great job for the first thirty minutes of keeping the chalk on the ground where it belongs, but then somehow it ended up everywhere, including my face! And then we broke out the face paint, and that resulted in my having a giant red heart on my forehead with an arrow going through. It was awesome. The kids were totally adorable with their faces painted. It was just awesome for bonding with them and enjoying each other’s company.
I am so excited that Thanksgiving is coming up in two days! I can’t believe that it’s already November. We are doing a feast here. It will be different then what I’m used to especially since this will be my first Thanksgiving away from my family, but I’m grateful that God has given me an amazing “family” here to be with. God has been really reminding me lately that my life is such a short vapor. It will be gone before I know it. With Thanksgiving coming up, I have just really been thankful that God has even given me a vapor. He’s giving me the chance to know Him. He’s giving me the opportunity to serve Him. To live in a place that is beautiful and live with amazing men and women of God. And so this Thanksgiving I have a LOT to be thankful for. We all do. I hope that this week you can ravish your love for the Father for all that He’s given to you. I mean, we have life and breath. We have the ability to move on our own and do amazing things. We have the opportunity to laugh and enjoy life. So if I don’t get a chance to before Thursday, I hope each of you have an amazing Thanksgiving!!!! Love you guys!

What a blessing it is to read about your adventure. Your desire and passion for our Lord is so encouraging to me. It is obvious that you are where LIFE truly is – walking in obedience to the Lord Jesus. Have a wonderful THANKSGIVING!!!
I, also, am so thankful that God has given me a “vapor”. (:) And, I want it to be spent for HIM.
Aaryn,
Thanks so much for encoraging me with your blogs. All of the families will miss each one of you but I am so thankful that you brothers and sisters in the Lord are together.
May you have a blessed day together remembering God’s goodness and faithfulness to His own.
I hope you had an amazing Thanksgiving, Aaryn! Congratulations on participating in your first drime! Those are pretty fun, huh? 🙂 Love you….!
